In a piping system, some kinds of media may corrode carbon steel or alloy steel pipeline. In case of that, austenitic stainless steel pipes and pipe fittings are a better choice to prevent corrosion. Austenitic stainless steel also features excellent resistance against high and low temperature. For example, stainless 304L and 306 are often used for LNG transportation in ultralow temperature conditions.
